Varnished wood products – benefits, colours and technique
Our range includes lacquered wood products, which are characterised by high quality workmanship and an aesthetic finish. We also offer stained products, which allow to emphasise the natural character of the wood.
Benefits of varnishing wood
- Improved appearance: Varnish brings out the natural structure of the wood.
- Highly smooth: Apply two layers of lacquer with sanding in between for a perfectly smooth surface.
- Mechanical protection: The lacquer forms a hard coating, protecting the wood from damage.
- Dirt and UV protection: The varnish protects the surface from dirt and sunlight.
No Food Contact
Please note that none of the varnishes we use are certified for food contact.
Does varnish protect wood against water?
The varnishes we use provide good protection against water, but do not provide 100% water resistance. The wood should be wiped down after contact with water, as the varnish does not protect against prolonged exposure to moisture or weathering.

Transparent lacquer (varnish)
Semi-matt, matt and gloss – always in stock. Mainly used for
- decorative products, including key rings.

Black and white
Always available – MAT.
Other colors
On request, we can make products in any colour from the RAL and NCS palettes.
Staining
The stain works well with oak and ash. It is often used to finish candle lids. Staining is done by hand and the stained surface must be protected afterwards – we usually use hard wax.

FULL COLOR VARNISH + LOGO
We burnt the logo before varnishing, which makes it the same colour as the surface. For light colours, the paint is rubbed in with a brush before varnishing.
LOGO AFTER PAINT
When burning a logo after varnishing, the laser removes the varnish layer, exposing the wood grain.

In the case of staining, the logo is burnished before the stain is applied, which darkenss the burnish pattern.
Lacquered faces in the boards
Wood naturally absorbs varnish or paint in different ways, which can lead to slight variations in the finish. We always endeavour to ensure that the faces of the boards and other products are neatly coated with varnish, however, due to the structure of the wood, slight translucence can sometimes occur. This is a natural occurrence and is due to the characteristics of the material, especially at the edges.
