3. Coating

You can protect the board with kitchen oil, paraffin oil, or wax. All are safe and natural. They make the board more durable and resistant to potential damage. However, remember that regardless of the oil used, wooden boards should not be washed in the dishwasher.

Surowe

Advantages	Raw, natural appearance, contrasts attractively with engraving. The board can be ordered with a paper banderole and will not leave a greasy trace.
Disadvantages	Higher liquid absorbency, which may affect the durability of the board.

Tip	If you opt for a raw board, wipe it with vegetable oil before first use. Repeat this process whenever the board appears to be dried out.

Level of protection	Basic. Protects against dirt and moisture penetration from products. Does not protect against fiber distortion during the first use of the board.
UV protection	None
Important	Oil from the board may leave greasy traces on the paper banderole, so when choosing packaging, we recommend adding shrink film.

This is the basic way to protect the boards. It is cheap and readily available, with its special feature being to enhance the color of the board and give it a distinct shine.

Tip	Apply again every 3-4 times you wash the board. No need for gloves..

Parafin oil

Highlight	Gives the board a distinct color
Smell	None
Level of protection	Basic. Protects against dirt and moisture penetration from products. Does not protect against fiber distortion during the first use of the board.
UV protection	None
Important	Oil from the board may leave greasy traces on the paper banderole, so when choosing packaging, we recommend adding shrink film.

Its characteristics are very similar to cooking oil, with the difference that paraffin oil is odorless.

Tip	Apply again every 3-4 times you wash the board. No need for gloves.

Hard wax

Price	Higher than oils
Availability	Specialized stores, such as those with wood care products
Highlight	Creates a characteristic film that provides additional protection against moisture. Gives slightly less color intensity than oils.
Smell	None
Level of protection	Basic. Protects against dirt and moisture penetration from products. Protects against fiber distortion during the first use of the board (unlike oil).
UV protection	None
Important	Oil from the board may leave greasy traces on the paper banderole, so when choosing packaging, we recommend adding shrink film.

Highest level of protection. While it is slightly more expensive and harder to find than oils, it provides UV protection and prevents fiber distortion during the first use.

Fun fact

Apply again every 10-15 times you wash the board. Use gloves.

Varnish and lacquer

Information	Protection against dirt Lacquering wooden products provides the best protection against dirt. Unique appearance. Opaque lacquer allows you to give the product a special look. We offer lacquering with clear lacquer for all products that will not come into contact with food.
Important	The lacquers do not have a certificate for contact with food. Lacquer does not provide 100% protection for the product against the action of water.
